There are three different types of heaters. The main kind of heaters are natural gas heaters, an oil furnace, and an electric furnace. There are a lot of differences to these furnaces and depending on what you are looking for out of your furnace you may want to pick a different unit. Before you select a furnace it is important to understand how they work so that you can make an informed decision. All furnaces heat your home by pulling cool indoor air into the furnace, heating it, and then redistributing the warmed air back into the rooms through ductwork. The main difference in the furnaces is how they are fueled and the main options are oil, natural gas, and electric. A natural gas furnace is a forced heating system where gas is mixed with air inside a burner and ignited inside the combustion chamber. An oil furnace operates very similarly, except this kind of heater uses gas instead of oil. Air absorbs the heat in the exchanger and then the blower distributes the air back through the air ducts. An electric forced-air furnace uses a blower to blow air over electrically heated coils. The warm is then distributed through air ducts. There are even more differences to these units than this and it is a good idea to ask your HVAC provider about all of the differences. That way you can make an informed decision on your heating equipment. It is smart to research heating equipment and compare all of the differences. This way you can install the perfect unit for your home.
